Since the New Sentinels seems to be a little dead as far as a RP group, are there any objections to me inviting folks to join? My brother has a character on Victory (Batiste, a Dark/Regen Scrapper) I'd like to invite.

I assume I'll be exemplaring down, since Blaze is, err, um, 23.9th level. (What can I say? Fire Tankers are amazing XP machines.)

Mood:accomplished

My main died like 5 times in an hour on Saturday, so I spent the rest of the weekend playing Blaze. I got her to 10th, and registered the team name New Sentinels (colors: red and blue, symbol: the eagle-looking thing). I will try to be on Wednesday night from 9-10 PM CST so I can add you all.

However, all this CoH is cutting into my writing time, so I'm not going to be playing other than the group nights until I get ahead again.

BTW, I was thinking that, even though the "odd" Wednesdays are the official 7 Sentinels game nights, the other Wednesday nights might be a good time for simple missions and hunting. Anyone interested?

Subject:The New Sentinels - Issue 1
Security:Public

By-Line: James Moon

The first of the New Sentinels made their presence known in Paragon City last night under the watchful eyes of the Last Journeyman.

Zoe Clark, the Secretary, former administrative assistant to Doctor Freedom was the first to attract the Journeyman's mystical attention. After discussing her time with the Doctor, the Journeyman and Clark investigated some gang activity, unveiling Skull activity in Hellion territory. Clark noted that it appears that the Skulls are attempting to flood Hellion territory with Superdine. This reporter thinks perhaps Miss Clark should change her name to "Zoe Freedom" to honor her mentor.

Later in the evening, Kid Sparks contacted the Last Journeyman as well. Young miss Sparks has a clear connection to Shock Man, but at this time, this reporter has not been able to determine what that connection is at this time. Kid Sparks, despite being less experienced than Zoe Clark, made a powerful showing while assisting Clark and the Journeyman against leaders of both the Skulls and the Hellions. She also lead the team into the sewers, where they rescued an innocent bystander from the growing Vahzilok menance.

During their battles last evening, the Last Journeyman made several mysterious statements, cryptic as always. Among them was the observation that Zoe Clark and Kid Sparks are closely tied to their predecessors. He also noted that the need for heroes must be increasing, since his powers seemed to be increasing. "My powers wax and wane as they are needed," said the Journeyman. Perhaps most interesting of all, the Last Journeyman noted that he detected "a connection" between certain members of the local gangs and "The Aerie Club". This reporter will be watching for further developments on this story.

The Last Journeyman further stated that he sensed the presence of other Seven Sentinel legacy heroes, including the grand daughter of the Blonde Flame. Whether or not heroes representing all of the original Sentinels will make themselves known is unclear, but personally, this reporter hopes so.

I am tempted to re-activate my S.O.'s account to be able to have 'NPCs' available when I run.... Of course, that would require me to set up a second computer downstairs and/or to run up and down the stairs during play....

Maybe not such a great idea.

Not the most well known heroes of the so-called Golden Ages, these seven mystery men (and woman) were no less brave than their better known counterparts. Originally the individual defenders of seven regional cities, they came together in Paragon City when investigating the activities of a common foe - Nemesis. Realizing that as a group they were more effective than they were individually, they decided to remain together to fight crime and the Axis forces at home and abroad.

The Seven Sentinels were:

The Blonde Flame: Secretary Louise Reilly from Middleton by day. She works for the vulcanologist Mark Dunn, who she convinced to move to Paragon City to cotinue his work when she joined the Seven Sentinels. She was initially powerless, relying on her .45 in combat. Later, she discarded the gun when she gained the ability to generate firebolts through contact with a mystic artifact (possibly a fragment of the Wheel of Destruction). She wore an ankle-length dress, spike heels, and a domino mask.

Captain Avenger: Steven Wright, a former Air Force pilot believed to be dead. His entire squadron was shot down by early 5th Column operatives. He made his way back to Gulf City and obtained enhanced human abilities from a chemical formula of his own invention. He wore a skin-tight, red, white, and blue costume emblazoned with an "A".

Doctor Freedom: A wealthy private investigator from Liberty City. Big and broad-shouldered, he eschewed "traditional" super-heroic costumes. Instead, he tended toward wearing expensive, but traditional, street clothes, a hat, and mask. He had friends and contacts everywhere and tended to work with such allies when not fighting side-by-side with the Seven Sentinels.

The Iron Spider: Ralph Dodge was the District Attorney in Steel City. He persued criminals agressively, perhaps too agressively. One day, he was shot, killed, and anonymously buried for his efforts. Shortly after, the Iron Spider, a crime-fighting android, appeared in Steel City. With the help of a scientist (who may or may not have been his creator), the Iron Spider took over the identity of Ralph Dodge using artificial skin and memories copied from the original. The Iron Spider was super-strong and bullet-proof.

The American Marvel: Science student Robert Masters was disgusted by crime in Capital City and the activities of the Axis powers in general. A radiation accident gave him "the power of the Greek gods". His sometime partner, Mickey Freeman, recieved similar powers when the accident was repeated under controlled conditions. Both posessed super strength, speed, invulnerability, and the power of flight.

Shock Man: Fred Gibson was a career scientist in Battery City and the son of a general. Through unknown means, he obtained the ability to project electricity from his hands, in addition to some degree of superstrength and speed.

The Blade: The hero known as the Blade was born in ancient Rome and rasied to be a gladiator. Evil magic hurled him forward through time where he took on the identity of Chris Martin, crime reporter, in New Venice. Recognizing the corruption of his native home in his new world, he turned his martial skills to masked crime fighting.

The Seven Sentinels are a proposed backstory for a possible CoH role-playing experience. If there is interest, the idea would be that the players play the heirs of the Seven Sentinels, pulled together in the wake of the Rikti disaster. They might be the descendants of one or more of the original Seven, students of the same, or merely young heroes inspired by their exploits and/or appropriating their names.

We will be playing on odd-dated Wednesdays on Victory server starting at 8:30pm EST. Contact the Last Journeyman for teaming information.
